Adjustable Beds

Adjustable beds have never been easier to find, compare, and try out then here at The Sleep Source. Today adjustable beds go by about three different names, Adjustable beds, Ergo beds, and power foundations. We carry Tempur-Pedic, the new Serta iComfort, and Leggett and Platt adjustable beds which are available in all the standard sizes. There are many styles and features to choose from and a wide range of prices. See more below this video.

The very least expensive type of adjustable bed would be one where just the head comes up. Most of us would want something where both the head and feet come up of course however there are a few people who don’t need both to move. The next step would be the head and feet plus a message built in. This is where the price starts to go up and at this point we are talking about just the base without the mattress. Next is where the Head and feet both move and a dual message, meaning separate message motors for the head and foot. Most of these models would have a wireless remote also however not every model does. Speaking of remotes, last in line may be an adjustable bed where both the head and feet move, dual message with a wave feature (massage pulsates back and forth from head to foot), and a wireless remote with a wake up and sleep timer and of course an app so you can run it with your iPhone (no joke). These models usually have presets as well so if you find that one just right spot you can set it and just push one button and have your favorite position move in to place.

Now for the different sizes. Twin size is available however in adjustable beds it is usually a twin extra-long. The reason why is because when the bed flexes up and down you may need the extra length (5 inches) so you don’t hang over the edge. Full size is out there but just not very popular, which may be because it is almost the same price as a queen size. Queen size is next and we do sell a lot of them. After that is the king and here there are a couple of different considerations. You can buy a king size with one big mattress or what is called a dual king. A dual king works best for most couples because it is two separate beds. Each side can go up and down independently and you can just imagine between two people it’s very rare that you each want to be at exactly the same height or position. Now before you think it’s not one bed hold on. You can hook them up to one king headboard if you want plus there are locking casters and the two will stay together (even if someone is lying right in the middle). Also what you can do is use separate fitted sheets, but one big flat sheet and comforter so you still have the feeling of it being one mattress but also having some independent flexibility.

Now you probably want to know” how much are these things”. Well the bottom line is they start at about $999.00 and go up to almost $10,000.00. I know that is a big window however one of the big variables is the mattress you put on the base. This is a whole new topic. Although we do carry innerspring adjustable mattresses the new foam mattresses are working very well on adjustable bases and we do sell a lot of them and customers have been very happy with them.
